I ran across these gorgeous pictures on Flickr yesterday and wanted to share them with you all. I asked for permission to blog about and permission was granted. This is one of the most gorgeous birds I've ever seen and the photography is most excellent! It's called a "stellar jay", and the photographer is theeye on etsy. I'm thinking I'm going to need one of these pics from her and I don't usually buy pictures of birds. Go check out her shop for beautiful photography!

ReplyDeleteThey are one of my favourite birds.... I didn't even know they existed until I moved west of the Rockies ... they're interesting to watch and make all kinds of funny sounding calls. Very entertaining.

ReplyDeleteShe does, indeed, take some amazing photographs! And a Stellers Jay is a beautiful bird, until you hear them. Sometimes they mimic other birds (to go rob their nests) and so, sound nice, but their own call is "cackly." They are best enjoyed in these beautiful pictures! ;)

ReplyDeleteI love the color of Jays, they are all over here, but a different variety. They warn everything small, that the owls or hawks are close. Such a wonderfull thing, birds. I will have to visit the photographer.

We have tons of these at my office, which is in an old house out in the woods). They are really aggressive towards each other - it's fun to watch them!
